The most shocking thing about great aunt Birte’s death to Annemarie was that her family had lied to her about it. Annemarie was shocked about the fact that her family had lied about her existence and death. Annemarie was even more shocked because “Mama had never lied to her”. It bothered her that even though her mom could tell Annemarie knew the truth that her mom continued with the lie. That was the most shocking thing about great aunt Birte’s death to Annemarie.

 What did Ellen promise Annemarie when they were saying goodbye? Would you make the same promise? Explain.

                   

When Ellen was leaving she promised Annemarie that she would be back soon. I would make the same promise. I would make the same promise to my best friend because I would come back to my best friend. I also wouldn’t want my best friend thinking they we wouldn’t ever see each other again. That is why I would make the same promise as Ellen, and what promise she made.
